Overview
Among European countries, the most famous are Paris and London, yes of course, no one would argue with that. But the European masterpiece is more than just its famous destinations, there are still more to see and to visit in the beautiful continent.
One of its hidden, well it’s not that hidden, but not one of the most famous place in Europe is the country of Lithuania. A combination of the medieval and the modern era awaits tourists, cathedrals, reflective sight and natural parks, all of these are present in Lietuva. Come and move Lithuania to the top of the must visit places in Europe.

Where is it located?
The Republic of Lithuania is one of the three Bactlic countries in the Northern part of Europe. On its west, there lies the Bactlic Sea, and countries neighboring Lithuania are Latvia to the north, Belarus on its east, southwest is Poland and Russia’s exclave to the west. So incase tourists would consider Lithuania as their destination, take note and familiarize its surrounding nations.

When should it be visited?
Well, since it’s a European country, of course expect it to be less hot. Lithuania’s climate ranges between maritime and continental, which is just relatively mild. Along the coasts of the country, the temperature is cold and slowly heating up from months of January to July.
During the summer, the country experiences slightly hot weather but in the past it reached 30 – 35 degrees Celsius. In case, one would visit during the winter season, just prepare for the extreme coldness which may drop down to negative temperature in Celsius.
What should be prepared?
Since Lithuania is a member of Schengen Agreement, it implements a lesser strict immigration rules. Visa grants for member of European Union are given to citizens of the member countries.
Just remember to track or check first if the country one lives in is under European Union. Also, there are custom checks within the country so better prepare the necessary requirements.
How to get in?
Get in the country through plane. Most airlines arrive at Vilnius International Airport and some at the smaller airports like Palanga while Ryanair carrier lands at Kaunas International Airport.
If tourists would want to go to the northern part of the country, Riga Airport is probably the best choice.
Tourists could also connect a train-ride from countries such as Latvia and Russia to Lithuania.
Meanwhile, buses and car is very much available to hitch tourists destined to the country.
Roaming the country? Tourists could do it through railway trains such as Ritrail which services to major towns and cities in the country. On the other hand, buses, taxis and cars are ready to hitch the tourists on first handedly seeing the country’s on hand masterpieces.
What to see and where to go?
Lithuania contains five regions which developed through complicated historical activities. It’s up to the tourists if where would they go in regions such as Aukstaitija, Zemaitija, Dzukija, Suvalkija, Lithuania Minor.
The Hill of Crosses, a pilgrimage area, which contains hundreds and even thousands of crosses of all sizes are located near the town of Siauliai. It symbolizes Christianity and represents locals’ hopes, prayers and wishes.

Aukstaitija National Park, a park in Lithuania which contains a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna, is an exciting trail if tourists want adventure upon visiting the country.

Trakai Island Castle, no doubt! It is the most attractive tourist attraction in the country. It is found in an island in the idle of Galva Lake. Imagine living there during the old times.
