Hop in to Tampere

Situated between the lakes of Nasijarvi and Pyjarvi, this populous city is not only one of Finland’s center of trade.

Aside from being a commerce location, Tampere also cradles some well worth tourist spots that displays not only the city’s well-established urban life but also the evolving culture and well-seated history.

Location

Also called as the ‘Machester of the North,’ Tampere started as a market place on the coast of Tammerkoski channel. The city is located 170 km north of Helsinki and measures 689.6 square meter.

It is now becoming an emerging district of technology and business.

Climate

Tampere has a continental climate with severe winter, no dry season, warm summer and strong seasonality according to Koppen-Geiger classification.

Winter is in between months of November to March while snow season lasts between late November to early April.

Transportation

Tampere has an airport named Tampere – Pirkkala that hosts several connections to Helsinki, Stockholm, Alicante, Bremen, Budapest, London and Milan.

Coach service can also be an option. There is an hourly operation between Helsinki – Vantaa airport to Tampere bust station. Tampere’s main train station is situated in main street Hammenkatu.

Taking a car drives approximately 2 hours coming from Helsinki.

Popular to be a summer destination, different water sports and activities can be enjoyed in this island.

Tampere Cathedral

Founded in 19th century, this impressive and unique establishment was built hand made out of stones.

Aside from the astounding façade, the insides is also designed by paintings and symbolic artworks.

The church also has stained windows all designed differently from each other deriving different scenes from the bible.

Hameenpuisto Park

Also called Esplanadi (esplanade), this long public park was made in 1830. Tourists strolling around should also take time noticing interesting sculptures around this tree-filled park.

Pyynikki Park

This beautiful park place speaks magnificence amidst high trees and lakes.

Find the main attraction in the form of a stone observation tower within the area and get a better view of the entire place.

Helvetinjärvi National Park

Travelers can get a nature trail in this side of Tampere. It’s high location provides breathtaking sceneries of amazing landscapes and splendid cliffs.

Activities that can be made here includes geocaching, skiing, snowshoeing and fishing.
