Location

Situated at the junction of the rivers Volga and Kazanka, Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia. The area covers 425.3 square kilometers and is considered as one of the most populous cities in Russia.

This city is also hailed as the ‘Third Capital of Russia’ next to Moscow and Saint Petersburg due to its economic reach and wealthy culture and deep-rooted history.

Climate

According to Koppen-Geiger classification, Kazan’s climate is tagged as humid continental. It is described to have severed winters, no dry season and warm summers.

It is ideal to visit this city during the months of May, June, July, August and September because of the average temperature being experienced during these said months.

Months outside what’s mentioned tend to be cold and chilly.

Transportation

The city’s major airport is Kazan International Airport situated 30 kilometers southeast of the proper city. From the airport, travelers can hail a taxi to get to the city center. Kazan is also accessible by train. Most routes are to and from Moscow and St Petersburg.

Attractions

Kazan Kremlin Tartar

Fortress and an important place of pilgrimage. Kazan Kremlin is a group of astounding buildings from 16th and 19th centuries.

Architectures found on this tourist destination boast the rich art styles that were formed in the progression of earlier times.

Kul SharifMosque

This recently completed mosque was named after an imam who died in front of cunning troops of Ivan Terrible in 1552. Inside is a museum that narrates the history of Islam on Volga.

It also has manuscripts, furniture and women’s costumes.

Leaning Suyumbike Tower

This is one of the most prominent buildings found in Kazan. The seven-story tower is surrounded with legend that adds to the beauty of the said architecture.

Apparently this tourist attraction is not open to the public in near sight.

Temple of all Religions

An impressive architecture that represents the fusion of some of the major religions in the world.

The place is owned by Ildar Khanov, an artist who believes that all religions are equal.

Black Lake

The park got its name from the lake that has been in the place for a very long time. Most of the times, fishermen go to the place to unwind and enjoy.

The place is famous for its clear water and wonderful fountain. Nowadays, the park is famous for people of the town and most visitors.

Through various public events, young ones usually meet here and socialize. Lots of benches, slides, swings are there for people to indulge in.
