Colombia has diverse natural wonders. On the mainland and off the coast towards its little island paradise, Colombia has enticed visitors for years into enjoying its beaches, cities, and culture.
Whether you’re looking for a thrilling adventure or simply in need of a relaxing getaway, Colombia is sure to cater to your needs. Suesca, a town in Colombia, is one of the example places that embody a pleasurable trip.
LOCATION

Suesca, also called Suejica in the chibcha language, also means “Birds of the Cliff.” Suesca is located 65 north of the more famous Bogota in which both belong in the Colombian Department of Cundinamarca.
Cundinamarca is a department located at the heart of Colombia landlocked by the departments of Meta, Tolima, Caldas, and Boyaca.
CLIMATE

The average climate of Suesca does not differ much in scale all year. Hot months starts in January but it can also be felt even before the December ends. The lowest drop in temperature is in July, which has a maximum average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and a minimum average temperature of 8 degrees Celsius.
Year-round, the maximum average temperature only varies between a two-point difference (20-18 degrees Celsius) as well as to the minimum (6-8 degrees Celsius). Daytime and nighttime temperature in Suesca differs greatly however, the hotter the day, the colder the night.
There is also the constant presence of rain; however, some months it only drizzles the other it pours in sheets. October is the wettest month with nine centimeters precipitation followed by May at seven centimeters.
Remember, in planning your trips, the routes and trails for rock climbing in Suesca gets closed off due to flooding. As early as May, the rain starts to pour peaking in August then going down from there.
TRANSPORTATION

(4) La Terminal – bus terminal in La Salitre, Bogota
Going to Suesca is fairly easy. Located only at 65 kilometers north, the trip by bus or by car would only take more than an hour with landmarks to guide you.
Perhaps what you need to know is getting inside Bogota, but even that is easy, too. The newly US$900 renovated Aeropuerto Internacional El Dorado is located just 13 kilometers away from the center of Bogota. It has two terminals: terminal one for international flights and terminal two for domestic flights.
There are also buses in Boogota, which are impressively clean and organized (they are color-coded and separated into different units for different destinations) with information center located at modulo (unit) 5 and other things for passengers’ convenience such as bathrooms, showers, fast foods, ATM machines and left-luggage room.
These buses not only do rounds around Bogota or in the whole Department of Cundinamarca, they also cross-states; only international bus rides last for a week maximum (farthest destination is Buenos Aires).
ATTRACTION

The town of Suesca has become famous due to the natural cliffs called Rocas de Suesca. The natural cliff of Rocas de Suesca does not only offer a stunning scenery for everyone to see, but also activities for anyone to enjoy.
Whether you fancy rock climbing, hiking and trekking, Suesca is famous to deliver an adventure for anyone even to those without any experience.
Rock Climbing

For any rock climbing adventure, Suesca is the best in Colombia. There are around a hundred routes found in the 4-km long area of Rocas de Suesca.
In the birthplace of Colombian rock climbing, you will find the sandstone excellent for this activity.
You can book an adventure where the instructors will teach you the basics of rock climbing and techniques (for anyone without experience), and make sure you have fun while ensuring your safety.
While there are also many, who bring their own gears, what’s great with booked adventures is that they offer you more than rock climbing.
There are also ATV rides, tour in the cave, and some hiking and trekking on different routes with different levels of difficulty depending on your preference and experience.
On top of that, the view of the town on top of the cliff is a refreshing sight.
Chocoancia Caves

Chocoancia Cave is another part of Suesca experience. Chocoancia is located in a mountain in the Valley of Hawks, where you will be greeted with yet another great scenery of the countryside away from the busy hustle-and-bustle of Bogota.
The cave is roughly 400 meters of natural grotto where mostly harmless armadillos and bats are nesting.
The cave has no lighting compared to the other commercialized caves and entering will give you the feeling of untouched area, disturbed by the quiet footfalls of visitors and constant streams of chatter.
Visiting this cave is best after you experienced the famous Colombian rock climbing and just before the parties of visitors begin if you are staying for the night.
