The town of Krabi is a part and the center of the Krabi province of Thailand. It is located in the 800 kilometers south of Bangkok and a neighbor to Thailand’s famed beaches.

Krabi town is among the places that cover the 160-kilometer long Krabi coastline, which in turn makes up for most of the town’s feature. Facing the Andaman Sea and landlocked by Khao Phanom and Nua Klong at the side, Krabi town cannot be missed.

CLIMATE

The best time to visit Krabi would be when the sun is sure to shine, the sky is blue, and the water is clear and calm. This happens when the northeasterly wind is currently blowing over the province that can be witnessed from the months of December to May.

Over the course of this period, the weather progressively gets hotter with an average temperature of 32 degrees Celsius. This is defined as the dry season of a tropical climate. The other season, rainy, happens from May to November; however, the transition of seasons does not strictly follow the months. It can be early or late.

TRANSPORTATION

Krabi Town could be reached in a number of ways. The most common and fastest way would be by plane. It has a small and fully functional airport called Krabi Airport that connects the town of Krabi an all the other places in the province to other places in Southern Thailand. It serves both domestic and international flights.

Another way would be by bus or private tour buses in which the former has a terminal directly inside the town and the latter located a few kilometers off outside. Another alternative would be through sea. The town has two mall ports: the old one, Krabi River Marina; and the recently opened one, Krabi Boat Lagoon.

Another way would be through driving to town your own in which you should have not a problem with a functional GPS since Thailand has an excellent road network.

Tiger Cave Temple or locally called as the Wat Tham Seua is a hill and a cave made into a temple complex as what has been usually observed in most of Thailand’s religious sites. It is only 8 kilometers away from the town central and will make for an enjoyable day trip.

Test your endurance by climbing the 1237 steps of the 600 meters karst peak and be rewarded with Buddha trinkets to match with the stunning view below. Consisting of the temple complex are limestone caves with Buddhas statues situated in different and sometimes covert places.

While this remains as the main attraction of the place, the nature also calls for the tourists to come and take a look. At the central sanctuary, you’ll find a small forest valley with group of monkeys taking a home in the cackles of trees.
