The climate in Siena is classified as humid subtropical. If you want to get the best out of the beautiful sights found here, it is advisable to pay a visit between the months of May and October, since they possess average weather which perfect for strolling around.

Note that the warmest temperature is usually observed in July and August, so wear light clothes. Most rainfall happens in November while the coldest month is December.

Those who will travel by air should first book a flight to either Florence or Pisa. From any of these destinations, riding a bus or taking a train can get you to Siena. Those who come from the north can ride a train from Florence as there are constant trips going to the city.

To get to the historical spots though, it is advisable to take a bus. The travel time is more than an hour but the last stop is right at the Piazza Antonio Gramsci, which is just a short walk away from some of the interesting sights of the city.

As one of the distinct landmarks in Siena, this tower was built to proclaim the same extent of power the church holds as the state. As a matter of fact, it is the third highest edifice in Italy that is meant for secular purposes.

The foundation was first laid in 1325 but the actual construction began years after. The peak of the tower promises a stunning view of the city and its surroundings.

Public Palace of Siena

Inspired by both medieval and gothic architecture, this palace was built with the intention of being the city’s center of governance in 1297.

This also serves as point of power as governors of the city spent their lives here. Aside from the rich history witnessed by its walls and floors, the palace preserved its majestic beauty and is still admired till today.

Piazza del Campo

This serves as the heart of the city as some of Siena’s most important events transpired here. The big square is one of the most beautiful structures in the world.

Built in 1200, the place was able to preserve its raw and traditional facade making it stand out from other remarkable places.
