Known as one of Colorado’s snowcapped towns, Breckenridge is suitable for travelers who revel on the glory of the frigid snow and those who want to be submerged in utter silence that only a vacation home can offer. With its usual American vibe, Breckenridge is more of a rural area rather a fully developed one.
Inhabitants, similar to their yearly weather, are calm and collected but not cold. Thriving in a small population and the general area having few people, Breckenridge must make it to your priority list of places to visit as you’d definitely come to love how easy life is when you get to spend a few nights here.
Despite its minuscule populace, Breckenridge still keeps the town’s aura alive by hosting huge events such as the Breckenridge Festival of Film, Ulir Fest and the annual Fourth of July celebration. When you want to thrive outdoors and do some snow skiing on the side, it is best to be here during winter.
Location

(2)
Geographically, Breckenridge is almost at the very heart of Colorado. Dotted with towering trees and uphill slopes, Breckenridge is said to cover a total area of 4.9 square miles, all of which is pure land. However, the ski area is a different matter as it covers an additional 4.5 square miles and the city is 2926 meters above sea level, hence the humongous probability of snowy winters.
As of the moment, Breckenridge houses a total of roughly 5,000 residents and a handful of part-time inhabitants due to the fact that many vacation homes are built upon the city’s bedrock.
Climate

(3)
Due to Breckenridge’s elevation, the city is under the high-alpine class according to the reliable climate source, Koppen. All year long, the whole town experiences 30% of estimated average humidity which means that the air is cool and moist. If Breckenridge is at its hottest weather, the annual average temperature is at 32-degrees Celsius while the lowest can drop to -7-degrees Celsius.
Furthermore, Breckenridge also gets to experience rainshowers and it typically occurs in the months of July and August, with accumulated precipitation of 2.39 and 2.32 inches respectively. Snow, the town’s capital reason for tourism starts in September and can stretch until rain comes in July.
On an annual scale, the town is subjected to receive a total of 163.6 inches of snow which sounds like fun for vacationers. December and March are the months which have the largest amount of snowfall in Breckenridg.
Transportation

(4)
Due to the fact that Breckenridge is all land and is in the middle of Colorado, traveling via air would not be a hassle. Three airports can be used to get in and out: Denver International Airport, Eagle County International Airport and the Colorado Springs Airport.
While all of the aforementioned airports are hundreds of kilometers away from Breckenridge, these happen to be the most accessible and nearest to the town’s center. The main road that road travelers must use is the long Interstate 70 – Highway 9. Getting around town would not be an issue since the government mandated free shuttle buses that will take you to ski resorts within the town’s perimeter.
Also, you can experience the benefits of Summit Stage, also a free shuttle connecting you to nearby cities and destinations such as Frisco, Dillon and Silverthome.
