The scenery blasting with color perched upon residents that are warm, welcoming and always inviting; this is what Tofino is known for.

If you’re one of the many who revels in the heat of the sun, the swaying leaves of plants surrounding salty beaches, or if you’re a part of a community that enjoys the sound of local music within a setting of camaraderie and fun, then this small town is the perfect spot for you.

Now considered as an eco-resort town, Tofino is reverberating through the halls of the tourism industry as a place to watch out for. It is a rising vacation refuge which everyone will be enticed to know once they’ve been introduced to its glory.

Specifically, Tofino is perched on the western coast of the infamous Vancouver Island and the southernmost tip of the Clayoquot Sound.

More formally, Tofino is part of British Columbia in Canada and can be pinpointed within the map in Highway 4’s western terminus and found in the Esowita Peninsula’s geographical tip.

The total land area of Tofino is at 10.53 square kilometers and is slightly elevated from its neighboring towns and suburbs at 30 feet above sea level. As of the current census, Tofino is home to a total of 1,876 residents.

Climate

According to the Koppen Climate Classification, Tofino is an epitome of what the temperate climate should be.

Here, locals are bound to experience milder versions of the four seasons due to its position and elevation. Known to be warmer than Victoria and Vancouver, Tofino summers are generally hot to the touch balanced by colder winter phases.

Temperatures are set to climb during the months of June until September, with an all-time average of 36-degrees Celsius in this period.

Tofino experiences a lowered temperature when the Yuletide kicks in, and this frigid ambience can stretch to the month of March with a recorded median temperature of 18-degrees Celsius.

Rainfall, on the other hand, is bound to be felt during the months of November and January, which is marked with 19.37, and 19.16 inches of precipitation respectively.

Transportation

If traveling by air, the best entry and exit passages in Tofino would be the Tofino Airport, approximately 11 kilometers away from the city center on its southern side.

Here, all private and commercial flights are served and received, and there are reports that more and more tourists are observed to visit this Canadian town.

Riding ferries is another way of reaching this magical town and you would be able to use this mode of transportation when you’re coming from Vancouver or the well-known Powell River.

American water ports located in Seattle, Anacortes and Port Angeles are also open to the public, and there are certified companies such as the Washington State Ferries to drop you off in Vancouver Island.

Bus rides, which are quite convenient, are always available and you can travel to selected towns the likes of Parksville, Coombs, Nanaimo, Vancouver, Victoria and Port Alberni.

Despite its small size, the gallery named as Inkwis Art and Culture is one of the staples that you need to ‘feel’ whenever you visit Tofino. Dotted with valuable artifacts and amazing gallery items, the Inkwis Art and Culture gallery will offer you a wide array of talent printed or drawn on ever-changing canvasses.

Here, you’ll be introduced to the art form called First Nations, which is famous to locals from Tofino and other nearby towns. If ever a painting or another work of art mesmerizes you, then purchasing it is possible as some of them are for retail.

From Tofino, a simple kayak ride will bring you the mystic place called Ahousat. Experience nature and be in touch with the large expanse of flora, a beach coast waiting for you at the very end and a relaxing warm spring to soothe your body from hiking the 10-kilometer Wild Side Heritage Trail.

Aside from the beach, visitors are also allowed to do camping within scheduled hours and kayaking is a popular activity in Ahousat.

Tofino Brewing Company

Simply a manufacturing site for Tofino’s local brews, the Tofina Brewing Company is placed behind an unassuming industrial edifice waiting for your visit.

Most of the cafes and bars within Tofino subscribe to the age-old method of alcoholic beverage brewing brought about by this company, and you can even sample some of their products while touring inside the factory.
