Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport is the nearest and most accessible airport to Tybee Island. Getting to the island itself from here would take approximately 45 minutes of travel time.
Passing through Savannah is the easiest way to go to the city via GA-26 / US – 80.

There may be a notion that Tybee Island is a huge public beach. However, explore a little more and realize that there are some areas that allow you to get away from the noise and energetic vibe of the crowded coasts.
If you are the type that is into the jovial mood of the crowd, going to South Beach is your best bet as it is the city’s busiest beach spot. However, if you lean on more quiet surroundings, fishing at Savannah River Beach and Back River Beach will be your best fit.
Tybee Island Light Station

Built back in 1736, this lighthouse has been a guide for sea voyagers for more than 300 years. Hailed as one of America’s oldest, it is surprising that this light station still works.
Those who want to get a good view of the island can take the challenge of conquering the 178 steps of the newly renovated lighthouse.
Fort Pulaski National Monument

Initially built with the intention of protecting Savannah from naval attack back in 1830s, the former military hub has been turned into a place for recollection.
The preserved national monument is an edifice from the American Civil War.
