Turaida Castle

This medieval castle was first founded in 1214. The current tourist destination was made of red bricks and has witnessed several historical points of time in Latvia’s past.

The museum reserve where the castle resides measures approximately 50km. Originally built for the archbishop of the country, Turaida Castle has served more than it original purpose for it also became a fortification during the time of siege and war.
