Get the feel of the golden medieval era and be surrounded by scenic views and splendid architecture all in one city. Piran’s drawing appeal is nothing but speaks of magnificence brought about by the picturesque old age sights mixed with the modern times.
Fairy tales may just happen in books, but this destination can be considered as the closest because of the grandeur Piran has to offer.
Location
Piran is located at the end of the Piran Peninsula on Piran’s Gulf. The eastern part is facing Italy just across the Adriatic Sean ad Gulf of Trieste.
It also borders Croatia to the south and Izola and Koper to the east. The beauty of the place gave birth to some of the world’s best artists like the famous Giuseppe Tartini and Cesare Dell’Acqua.
The small area covers 0.3 square kilometers.

Climate
Being situated on the Adriatic Sea, the town is blessed with a good Mediterranean climate that translates to most numbers of sunny days. Piran’s temperature plays between 22 – 32 degree Celsius.
Sunshine can eat up to 11 hours in a day during the months of July and August. While the climate is generally sunny, people need not to worry because it is being met by a temperate cooling breeze that results in fine weather.

Transportation
Piran is a heaven that’s accessible to those who wanted to get the feel of its beauty. Piran can be reached by air by landing to the Portoroz International Airport.
Bus is the most dominant mode of transportation though.
The town can be accessed to and from other cities like Izola, Koper and Portoroz. Those who will come from Venice can opt to have a boat ride to reach Piran.

Attractions
Tartini Square
Once a harbor for fishing vessels, the place was originally built during 1877 – 1879. The place is now the largest square in all Piran. This is a place for pedestrians and will definitely be appreciated by those who are into walking.
No cars are allowed within the square. The place was named after Giuseppe Tartini which happens to be one of the geniuses born in the said town.

Town Walls
This was originally built to protect the town from southwest Slovenia. The first wall was founded during the 7th century, followed by another two due to the enlargement of the town.
There are gates that are preserved namely Osrednjta Vrata, Miljska Vrata, Poljska Vrata, Dolfinova Vrata, Rasporska Vrata and Barocna Vrata Svetega Jurija.
Piran Aquarium
Made in 1964, Piran Aquarium takes care of around 140 sea organisms. This manmade underwater exhibit is situated at the inner bay of Piran Port on Kidric Quay No.4.
