(1) Scala Dei Turchi
Beaches have been the usual go-to place on holidays that sometimes we can’t help but be blasé when one is mentioned. It is supposed to be a holiday and we should feel excited, but the typical holiday destination just takes away the fun.
Scala Dei Turchi may have been a beach, but it is not just your “another typical” beach. If going to the beach while still maintaining some kind of adventure is what you’re looking for, then Scala Dei Turchi is for you.
LOCATION

Scala Dei Turchi translated as “Stair of the Turks” has a distinctive white sedimentary rock that made up the rocky cliff you will see on the coast of Realmonte.
It is located at the southern part of Sicily, Italy near Agrigento and Porto Empedocle, a commune in Italy.
CLIMATE

The hottest month in Realmonte happens in August with an average temperature of 21 degrees Celsius (minimum) to 31 degrees Celsius (maximum). The warming of the climate can start as early as May and last until October.
However, October is not your ideal month to go. Even though these months provide dramatic scenery, it is the wettest month of the year, which may dampen your trip. The ideal time to travel will be on June or July, as the weather is sunny and dry.
TRANSPORTATION

Most tourists come mostly from Palermo, where Palermo Airport serves domestic and international flights. From Palermo, it will take more than an hour or two to get to Scala Dei Turchi in Realmonte depending on the traffic.
There are also routes from Piazza Armerina where the drive will take an hour and another one from Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples, in which the drive to Scala Dei Turchi will only last for a few minutes.
ATTRACTIONS

The beach trail to Scala Dei Turchi is marshy not to mention also rocky; however, many tourists enjoys walking through this marshy coast.
It is exceptionally beautiful during the summer when the sun is high in the sky reflecting on the pristine waves lapping on the shore.
If you don’t mind getting wet, then flip-flop will be okay, but it would still be better if you choose what you are more comfortable in.
Overlooking the Mediterranean

You have no more reason to treat your holiday beach destination as just another weekend.
Dive in to the gleaming, blue water of the Mediterranean or you can simply look at the stunning sunset bouncing from the sparkling water to the white Turkish steps, whatever you choose, it would be as worth traveling through the marshy lands going to Scala Dei Turchi.
Also, don’t forget to ready your cameras. Capture the stunning panorama of the Mediterranean seascape as it contrast in beautiful color against the marble white Turkish Steps.
Turkish Steps

Apart from the gleaming water, the “Turkish Steps” is another main attraction that keeps on pulling beach-goers all over the world. The white cliff is like a beacon even from afar.
The rock formation was made of sedimentary rocks and a mixture of marl and clay, creating natural steps that are also soft you can write messages on its steps – and that’s what tourists do.
More than a beach, Scala Dei Turchi is a place that showcases the other infamous beauty of Sicily and a great place to bond with family and friends.
